After more listens, I definitely prefer Pony/Show Pony. I love that album but as a full listen I find this rather tedious despite the best songs being astronomically good.

Turns out this is not the direction I would've wished for... but maybe it was what I needed?
A handful (minimum) of very good tracks here. Liking Layfayette, Hexie, Let Me Drown... probably others once I've gotten around the amount of material here. 15 tracks is a long-ass country album for the uninitiated (i.e. me).
