All lolling at the hypocrisy of this aside, a Peggy/kanye collab would be probably incredible

I've been real all my life, you're like MC Ride
Two crackers call your album "nigga" and you let that slide, pussy
Get the fuck out of my genre, my genre”

kanye rules but yeah no chance any collab with this dude would be any good

Calling Kanye overrated is like, the most wildly incorrect take lol
I don't know if that's really Peggy hating on Death Grips and more so hating on the cultural space they occupy -which he essentially replaced when they went dormant. And I can absolutely see why he would have some reservations there lol I have seen him live twice at Pitchfork and he's always clowning on the crowd, but in a friendly way. The dude is pretty sarcastic and ironic and makes noisy, abrasive music.
As for working with Kanye, I guess I have to wait and see what comes of it, if anything even does. I mean, remember when Kanye posted a picture with Beach House lol
Kanye's views are obviously detestable but he is undeniably still talented and was Peggy's biggest influence in actually becoming an artist. I can totally see why he would jump at the chance to work with him, especially given his twitter rant that likely lead to them actually linking up. Maybe that makes him a hypocrite and I'm not really sure how I feel about it, but I am curious what that would even sound like and I get why he would do it.
We are far past the point the point of Kanye really getting the benefit of the doubt with his views -he is at the very least a nazi sympathizer, or indistinguishable from one- and his mental health is in the gutter. He's gonna be around and putting stuff out either way, and I guess I'd rather have someone like Peggy there who (hopefully) isn't a Yes Man than, say, Dababy lol

meh, I'll die on that hill. As Ryus pointed out in the Yeezus thread his producing and mixing skills are incredible, but I do find his songwriting songwriting cringe on more occasions than I can count
|
| |
Genuinely asking, how is the songwriting cringe?
Still, he's the most influential artist this century by a pretty clear mark. The guy is detestable, but his approach and gravitational pull has been undeniable

i mean he is not a good lyricist for sure lol. but i love his rapping voice
|
| |
Yeah, I'll totally agree on the lyrics lol
He used to be a pretty good lyricist but post-MBDTF he's focused on vibes and basically had CyHi ghostwrite for him. I do like a lot of his punchlines and his rapping voice, but it's when he starts rapping about how oppressed his family is on songs like "On God" on Jesus Is King where he has completely lost the plot and his tether to reality lol
|
| |
Kanye is a great producer who sucks at rapping and is mentally ill to the point where it hurts the quality of his music.
all of his best moments are just his beats.
|
| |
idk, he was really spitting up until Cruel Summer imo
