Yeah, I'm not getting this either. Offensively inoffensive elevator music.

Oh yeah Dewi it wasn’t your rating that scared me it was the words.

I thought your review read like this was their worst album and continued a steady decline and for me their albums since Infestissium went 4, 3.5, 3 so I was expecting this to be another drop but personally I find it a lot more solid than Prequelle.

Yeah the decline is subjective, I dare to say a significant part of the old guard don't like what they do now, they call it decline but at the same time they have been opening to more and more people with every album.

I personally like more Prequelle, the 5 is mostly a meme it's honestly around a 4 or so for me, Meliora was their peak.

Ghost have had consistently shallow, one-note, hooky songwriting throughout the entire course of their career

So far this is hitting more consistently than their last two but I've yet to hear a danse macabre-level banger

Looks like I may be in the minority here:

For what the the record tries to be: revival 80s hard rock that can be shredded in arenas, the album delivers and then some.

There’s plenty of tracks here that if I didn’t know the band I’d assume they were radio hits from the 80s.

I would’ve had them not go as mainstream, but for the output and direction they chose this bangs.

Been jamming this on and off since it came out and I have to agree that it’s their weakest so far. It’s still really enjoyable, and I expect it to grow on me more as it sinks in, but it feels like it’s lacking something. I can’t put my finger on it but it feels like there’s a layer that’s missing.

I feel significantly less satisfied by this than I was by Prequelle.

I don't expect more from this band than fun songs to sing-along-to in my car. I mean, Tobias is a metal musician but also an ABBA fan.

Album is really good and I don't get the hate.

I think the hate is that pop music I’d frowned upon, and over the years the band has really traded a lot of their heaviness for catchy hooks and pop melodies.

Agreed. They've always openly used the celebrative/unifying side of pop music.

Though, I must admit that the repetitiveness in this is sometimes annoying, like in Watcher In The Sky.
