>After an exhaustive discog run from Karelian to here, I've come to the conclusion that this holds up. Not my favourite release by them but is definitely up in the top tier, somewhere just behind Skyforger and Eclipse and probably equal(ish) with Silent Waters & Under The Red Cloud.

An absurd level of consistency achieved yet somehow rarely falling into the tired 'we've heard this all before but better' routine veteran bands can get into.

Has neatly slotted into the #3 spot on my AOTY 2022 list. 4.2

That's a pretty correct analysis. Good job.

Aye, album holds up remarkably well. The middle section from When The Gods Came to Halo is my favourite part

Ive got to give this the run time it deserves again soon. Rather than my 2022 shuffle playlist.

A 60 minute one-track, wildly ambitious epic exploring ~10 genres.

Feels better than the first times listening to this, but I don't think I will bump up my rating.

What's crazy to me is how consistent Tomi Joutsen's vocals are live. Even if you factor in some mixing and EQ, his transitions between harsh/clean are insanely smooth. Lotta metal vocalists sound underwhelming live vs studio magic. His range is extremely underrated imo. Also the avg band member age is like 50 years old lol. So well into their mature fine wine part of career. Even tho sounds like Queen of Time 2, def enjoying this more with that in mind.

Haven't listened to this in a hot minute, still holds up.

I do hope they'll tweak their sound a little next record, would be very interesting to see what they'll do.

Didn't know they deserved a book. I won't expect very lurid tales from their backstage shenanigans.

Looking forward to your review, Willie.
