Just did the same.
Singing along to the middle of Infinite Josh made me feel much more mesmerized by the vocals sort-of polymetering a 5-bar phrase on the rest of the music
“At least for a while
At least it’s life
At least it’s life
At least for a while
It’s a delicate dance”

"Also, as good as the final two songs are, I don't think anyone can change my mind that the album's best 1-2 punch is actually Birds/Holy Office"
but see neither of those songs are Trouble

Ugh yeah honestly that might be my favorite...
Album's best stretch is from Afraid to Die through Fewer Afraid, change my mind.

The album's 1-2 punch is clearly Trouble/Infinite Josh.
I would also respect Afraid to Die/Sophie as an answer.

i didn't even notice they were polymetering that shit. best band Icarus The Owl did something like that on Shadowboxing with a 4 bar vocal melody over a 3 bar loop, love that kind of stuff

The guitar melody in Sophie is super catchy and I love the tone they went with.

I dont understand how Infinite Josh is so repetitive but still only feels 5 minutes

It kinda reminds me with what Jimmy Eat World did with Goodbye Sky Harbor. 15 minutes long, yet so hypnotic and creative.

Blank tracks are probably my favorites in here tbh give me that Panopticon Kentucky vibe kinda

That split goes rly hard plz listen if ya just got into this band.
Really surreal to think I wrote a review for these guys back on their debut LP 8 years ago and they have come this far.

I do really miss Tyler's contributions here though (is he out of the band or just didn't contribute to this one? he has such a good voice and they never used it enough)
but yeah shit rips, so much better than Always Foreign it's comical
