bumped my score for this, loving it a lot more than I did on my first listen. again, it's nothing revolutionary, just really fucking well-done

doesn't have to be revolutionary to be a great album after all

I'd rather an album be executed really well than the artists trying to reinvent the wheel so to speak on it and the execution be terrible.

I haven’t given anything they’ve done more than a quick listen since In Waves but Matt has seriously improved his vocals right?

As I've said over and over again - Matt Heafy sounds like he's trying to imitate someone singing and in the process, sounds like he's "over-singing" or trying too hard. You really have to be in the mood or have an open mind to get past it sometimes...

I definitely felt that on their earlier stuff but there were times on this album I was actually impressed with his cleans and I don’t think that’s ever happened before, they’ve just been serviceable

Matt only sounded like he was imitating someone during the vengeance falls era, now he's kinda just doing whatever now. But he sounds better than ever honestly

Honestly this is fairly well above Ascendancy
You might not be like, chomping at the bit for this kind of stuff but I definitely think you'll find tracks you dig

Idk how Heafy can ever write another chorus after this album. Every one is so good

This review caught me off guard, I had no idea Trivium was releasing a new record. I’m two songs in and I already love it.

Last two albums have been good, but this might be their best. The Shadow of the Abattoir is easily their best song since Shogun too.
