Not gonna comment on quality but this record is a hundred times more interesting to me than the new Simz record

postpostpartum is the one track I don't really get here (6 listens in), frustrating since it seems to be a favorite

First 4 songs and Wild Wild West are my faves so far. I never heard their other s/t LP, but I appreciate how weird and experimental this is. Atmospherically the thing is very deep and murky, which by the second half of the album sort of wore me down. Still, I'm not a hip-hop frequenter and this is a 4/5 for me. Could grow a tad if some of those spliced/scattered melodies take shape in my mind. This is unforgettable as a whole though just for how different it is.

I definitely get how it can be tiring, that's why the compactness is appreciated. I recommend hearing the closing two tracks independent of the rest. They're my top picks along with "top picks" and the opening two.

Yeah it's definitely a good thing this is brief because otherwise it'd suffer even more from the "murkiness". Overall though I'm not even bothered by that so much, I just wish there was more to latch onto across the back half. Maybe that will come with repeated listens. I'm floored enough by the ambition here that I can tell I'll be returning to this a lot; it feels important.

This album sounds like a completely different group than their s/t LP. Well I guess it is in some ways, RIP Groggs

do y'all know how comparisons actually work or do you just type words in random orders

Footwork is one of the best here easily. Wild Wild West is my least favourite, the beat slaps but the vocal performance is lacking

It definitely goes hardest into the apocalyptic vibe but it's the least musically interesting track on here for me by a mile
