After only 2 spins, I thoroughly enjoy this more than The Book Of Souls, which is a great record in its own right.
Love this band man

It's so bafflingly pleasant that these guys are still going strong after forty-six years.

The work ethic, the quality, the craft all done on their terms for decades.
When it comes to a full package nobody comes close tbh. Band is the absolute bollocks.

I'm gonna give this another spin tonight. I refuse to believe it's as bad as I remembered.

Lost World, Celts and Hell are some of the best songs Maiden have written in the past 20 years, unbelievable.

Review is spot on, yet I have a slightly more favorable view of Maiden's post-Brave New World career. Everything from Dance of Death onwards has been far more progressive and epic than their 80's hey-day. A Matter of Life and Death and Book of Souls are absolute freight trains of Maiden at their best, imo. I think they push more boundaries than they are "safe" and "consistent."
On another note, upon my first listen of Maiden's last three albums I kept my expectations hesitantly cautious, out of fear that they've lost their step or let age dull their finesse. As always, this album has shattered any hesitancy - the boys still got it.

I'm new to Maiden so I don't know if it's just "Maiden doing maiden stuff" but I found this album fantastic from start to finish. Very refreshing

I agree with Bfhurricane.
While it's not a seismic shift, their post-2000s era has been much more sweeping and epic for the most part than their 80's output. Hit rate isn't as high and the difference is a matter of degrees rather than completely different destinations, but it's noticeable and a smart move on their part to keep things familiar and fresh

honestly in terms of pure consistency, they are the GOAT

They had some downers in the 90's, but ever since Bruce rejoined they've been an absolute roll.

Bruce's solo stuff also consistent as hell. Accident of Birth, The Chemical Wedding, Tyranny of Souls all great stuff.

Idk if it's cause I haven't really jammed a Maiden record in years but I'm really enjoying this, just wish the production was a bit clearer
