This whole thread reads like chapter 3 of people being surprised Leprous is straying away from metal into rock with pop elements lol

Good album for sure

People swem to love Nighttime Disguise, but tbh it's one of the songs that still need to grow on me atm, after 2 listens

I'm legitimately convinced that the people who say that this is an Einar solo project only ever listened to like 3 songs off of Bilateral or Congregation

Coal introduced me to this band, Congregation and Billateral are my favs pretty much and I still think Pitfalls and this one are very worthwhile.

This album sucks. leprous are no longer a metal band and that is their end. They should change their name at least so they don't fool people.

qwenta you make the least sense of all the people in this thread

how is this not pitfalls part 2

congregation signalled the band's foreboding downfall, so it was only a matter of time before they went in this direction

also, they really should stop doing those 'quiet' singing sections where it's just Einar and occasional keyboards/light drum beats

you'd think they'd do something new after a couple albums but nah

"how is this not pitfalls part 2"

a lot more instrumentation for one, album actually contains some of their heaviest material since Congregation, not to mention the band were more involved in the writing process, even more than Malina actually.

if by 'more instrumentation', you mean the occasional malina-esque guitars here and there, sure

but that ain't saying much

I mean Congregation was far from their heaviest album overall but it definitely had its heavier moments

congregation suffered a lot from needless repetition

songs like rewind are just unnecessarily long and that build-up never justifies the small shart of a climax the song ends on

congregation had a few heavy moments, sure, but again, they were pretty sparse

it would've been a real gem if they'd cut it by a good 30 mins

^^^not really imo

Coal had loads of cool instrumental interplay while everything after it was basically build-up/opera crescendo city

I mean, does every song have to be a fucking build-up ffs
