"Yeah I don't get the problems with the second half either, Bad Habits is probably one of my favorite songs they've ever done, prehistory is straight up bonkers fun and Human is Hell is fucking fantastic."

I agree Bad Habits and Human is Hell are good, but the rest of the second half is pretty weak

@Scheumke I dont give a flying crap about those two 5 minute songs near the end, Turbulent and the other, Sfumato is so weak even for an interlude. Bad Habits is probably my favorite song honestly, Human Is Hell very good too.

I like Turbulent

Sfumato is an interlude, no need to judge it so harshly

At least they didn't put something as wacky as Bloom on here

i love bloom and they way the drums crescendo into the next track, one of the best moments for me

Bad Habits is f*cking great. Other than that, this has probably too many moments where ideas get shoehorned in just because.

Prehistory is definitely more wacky than Bloom

I'm not too familiar with the rest of their catalogue. Now that i'm about to finish it on a first listen, i can understand that argument better. Second half definitely feels more homogenous.

First time now that I was able to listen to it front to back without being interupted and I really enjoyed the flow of the harder first half into the progier second half. So many highlights and memorable moments throughout that it didn't even feel overlong. Turbulent felt like a very nice resting point with a slower 'easier' song that gets stuck in my head before diving into the grand finale. I can see myself 5ing this with more listens.

Bloom is def wackier than prehistory. The only thing that's 'wacky' about the latter is tommy vocal lines, while the former takes the pisstake route straight off the bat.

Shiranui, that makes sense lol because some of their previous work sounds like a billion ideas expelled through a flood of musical diarrhea

This has some cool build ups and self-allusive passages that flow into one another quite nicely without sounding overly homogenous

Lead guitar in Bad Habits 4:00 = backing guitar Ants of the Sky 4:00.

This kinda shit gets me so hard lol.

Scheumke, my only complaint would be the annoying melodic line just when the chorus sets it. https://youtu.be/orJSJGHjBLI?t=66
