That wasn't really the question though was it.
"How do you feel about the cover art on that one?"

"That wasn't really the question though was it."
ATF's cover is almost universally considered as a pretty trash cover and of course I'm with the majority on that one.
I'm not against suggestive covers or anything, but for me to consider it good artwork it's gonna have to be something more than a bare ass with the sky behind it, it has to implement actual art.
I think you need to chill a little dude lol

This album cover is about on par with ATF's imo (not very good but prob overhated)

she looks very happy on the inner sleeves

It's not really a creepshot if she made it her album cover lol.

Kiiinda sounds like you are lol. I'm not saying the cover art is good, although I think it's a *little* better than ATF simply because it's actually somewhat relevant to the album's title and possible theme. I'm just baffled at the idea that a picture of a woman...in a swimsuit at the beach so not actually nude...shot in a pretty non-suggestive way with a fish eye lens is stirring the puritanical pot this way in 2021.

It's not stirring anybody's pot dude. The only conversation regarding the cover was that it was trash because it has nothing but her ass going for it, until anarchitfish and Idontrememberwho jumped in with some rehashed gender studies lectures to which I posted the above quote, which does not actually directly relate to Lorde's cover, more to the overall question of the saturation of nudity for attention in media and so on..

Nudity being commonplace doesn't devalue it unless it's made a commodity, in which case the actual problem is commodification and not "oversexualization"
|
| |
Sex sells and you can complain about the selling all you want but if you have a problem with the sex people are gonna bristle

oh fuck a comment i agree with on the internet... Imma make a wish

@Kompys
Yeah?
Say from tomorrow every single person on earth becomes a nudist and walks around naked 24/7. You mean to tell me that will somehow not devalue the intimate aspect of it?
It's obviously an overblown example, but the idea is that commodification is not the only way to devalue nudity.

We could have just made jokes like we did about that Death Grips cover, but naw, let's get a thesis out of this for my cultural philosophy paper on a butt shot of a New Zealander.

I'm sure its just a coincidence that these debates only happen around female artists
|
| |
the intent of the DG cover is expressively shock value, also looool if you think there hasn't been a shit ton of conversation around the dick cover when it first came out.
