white nile single art woulda been way better yea

idk if an edit would make this close to the discvoery, and tbh the discovery is already pretty bloated 15 tracks for a band like this is a struggle for me to get through. difference is up until a certain point all of it rips hard, where this doesn't take long to enter a middling stage where its hard to even differentiate the weaker ones (bar waves and love story) since theyre all kinda going for the same thing until shadowmourne

There are some bangers on here and the production is A+, but why so many generic filler songs? Could've dropped 14 tracks down to 9 and had a substantially better record. Not sure why bands feel the need for an hour long record.

All in all. A low 3.5.

They probably made it 14 tracks due to covid and their last album only being 8 tracks. It kind of makes sense but I wish they would've trimmed some of the weaker tracks and tracks that didn't fit.

Every time I listen to this album it grows on me more and more. It flows really well front to back and there really isn't one song that I dislike.

Oathbreaker has grown on me, but my dislike for Love Story and Waves has grown far more. I really just can't with those songs.

This is their best work since The Discovery by far. Can't stop spinning it.

Cut the filler and this would be an easy second place next to The Discovery

You could make a case for Discovery and Eternal/New Reign being the best

Me personally tho I'm going for A Higher Place.

All 3 albums are amazing tho.

If A Higher Place came out 10 years later than it did people would love it cause its got that bouncy mathy djent sound that is popular now, but it came out in the middle of the scenecore and crabcore explosion so the lack of binary breakdowns made it useless to metalcore fans of the time
