Nah man, it makes it way more authentic. If they aren't suffering from mental illness and living in poverty then they're just rich snobs

i don't hate this album i just secretly fear its authenticity because real music is dangerous and not to be taken for granted
"last time I checked the socioeconomic background of a band of troubadours doesn't affect their instrumentation muchly no?"
i mean this is as ridiculous as baseline's 'argument', which you can at least take entirely tongue-in-cheek. different kinds of music have always had specific class/political/social laylines - where do you think the most resilient subcultures come from? you don't need to erase this to make a case for black midi doing their own thing with this aesthetic

kick-ass music has come from rich snobs and shit music has come poor fucks who play on their $10 life savings. the reverse is also true. as it turns out, this is a record from art school rich kids that feels too calculated (and annoying) to flesh out what good ideas it had. it could have been great, but isn't

and gravity is restored. thank
one day i will cease listening to music full stop and only review free jazz for the rest of my not many remaining days and i will go insane and choke on a curtain cord, i feel this in my bones. it is fear. more boundaries.

Don't you fools know you have to suffer for your art. If you aren't constantly on the verge of dying while making it the I'm sorry your album is shit. That's why Slipknot's Iowa is the only good album that's ever been made
