I also have sleep paralysis, though my episodes are rare these days. I vividly remember one night in high school that I was paralyzed and staring into my pitch black closet and there were glowing eyes looking back.
Also, RIP Maradona.

Massive RIP. One of the greatest to ever do it.
The thing about sleep paralysis is that it involves both our conscious and subconscious simultaneously, something that can actually be quite frightening. Many artists feed on this kind of sensory experiences, namely the surrealists. I'm not an expert on the subject, but I believe these kind of episodes disappear with age.

Usually, if I'm going through it, it's mostly auditory hallucinations, and I can either wake myself up or I can calm down and go back to sleep before I start panicking so much. I had this crazy one in college where this chick from a previous nightmare was just screaming in my face for minutes. lol Super stressful.

That was super scary.
I also had a series of disturbing episodes when I was younger, which I sincerely prefer not to think about. Interestingly, it coincided with my most creative period.

@EphemeralEternity
I got it somewhere in 2011, but in my case substance abuse was what triggered it as well. I was on roids back in those days and on a night of heavy drinking I decided to light up some PCP-laced weed (didn't know it was laced until after). I got an epileptic seizure despite not being an epileptic. I got up, someone drove me home and the morning after the depersonalization/derealization started. I think I walked around an entire year with the disorder with barely a moment where it wasn't noticeable. Even when I was lifting weights, playing soccer, going out...the feeling was always there. I thought I developed a serious neurological disorder, but I got myself checked out and there was nothing serious to be found. Then I eventually learned it was derealization/depersonalisation I was suffering from.
It's my own fault really...play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

That's why today I choose my excesses carefully. If this makes any sense to you.

Ty Deft. So they pre-released it on YT because of leak?

Maybe? Many bands release their new stuff on Bandcamp earlier than on the stream platforms.

Thanks flaffy, I appreciate it.
In this case, it was because of the shitty leak.
