No license, I'm still ridin'

Crashed into a tree and kept drivin'

My label hates that I'm like this

I gotta go through shit to keep writin'

All these girls, I don't want none of them

But I know I'll end up with one of them

My life on the outside's fun to them

But the person on the inside is crumblin

Working with Travis Parker will automatically put you in the pop-punk, alt-rock radio sphere.

he started posting cover songs every day during quarantine and it blew up, but also he was probably at worst a B list rapper after that Killshot video.

yall way underrating this dude's popularity pre-pop punk. Dude was/and still is huge in the red-state "I don't like rap but I like Eminem" demographic that places like sput don't ever acknowledge. All his albums have at least a track or two with over 100mil Spotify streams.

Now he doesn't make rap anymore and those same fans still love him anyways, on top of all the pop punk nostalgics that have latched on the past year or so. Not to mention he's as much of a celebrity as he is an artist at this point.

MGK has over 5x more monthly spotify listeners than sput darling Pusha T, 8x more listeners than sput darling Freddie Gibbs, and 17x more listeners than sput darlings Danny Brown and jpegmafia. He even has nearly 6mil more than Logic... and is actually up in that g-eazy/j-cole range surprisingly. Dude didn't just get that clout off a few pop punk songs in 2020.

Yeah no, take it from a guy that lives in Mississippi. White people LOVE MGK. Have since the early 2010's. Blink 182 isn't particularly good though. And this is a dumpster fire.

off topic (but not really since Halsey is featured here), Halsey has 42 MILLION spotify listeners, it is truly mind bogglingly large, double the size of MGK, double the size of rappers I thought were bigger like Trippie Redd or Lil Yachty, rivalling the likes of Ariana Grande who has 50 MILLION spotify listeners, her numbers are astronomic, honestly I do think a lot of it comes from the Closer track with The Chainsmokers, but she's had massive success solo, multiple songs over 200mil plays, and her feature game has been insane this year too, Halsey been killing it this year dawg

https://gyazo.com/07050ed206770dfc6806dd22463a08a7 it's crazy how 11mil plays looks so miniscule beside all these juggernaut numbers

Halsey is one of those artists whose just substantive enough to garner an insanely rabid fanbase, yet at the same time inoffensive and identity-less enough to get their songs played on repeat at malls, gyms, walmarts, tv commercials etc. She also has a hit song that can fit into any of those curated spotify playlists... and has the versatility to collaborate with anyone from the chainsmokers to juice wrld to pop-punk MGK and come off like she does that sound for a living.

You can't think of any of her songs off the top of your head, but go through her top spotify songs and you've heard them all dozens of times.

“red-state "I don't like rap but I like Eminem" demographic that places like sput don't ever acknowledge“

As one of those people I can confirm that I bought the mgk laced up album and that same week it was the soundtrack in my car as I did all kinds of drugs at the bottom of southern Oklahoma in one of those towns with 50 people and 15 of them were at the place I stayed and another 15 we visited were all sitting on couches outside while the local band played rockabilly in between the couches and the chicken coop and the fishing pond
