This album is more of a 'free spirit' than some of their stuff. Perhaps negating some of the consistent wholesome mood aspect found on the quite wonderful you-know-what #1 lab (and others). Having said that it really is a creative concoction of loveliness and there are highlights aplenty. The opening run has grown on me massively of late.
Officially #2 lab now, of that I have no doubt. It also crowns 97-01 as their peak era and likely one of the greatest runs of all time (you could extend this, of course... maybe I will?!)

Oh my, what a coincidence. We are so different, yet sometimes the same. Curious. I'm undecided what's after SD, perhaps Transient could be the one, but this requires further review. Emperor was a shoe-in for the top spots before.
I can't see it being the others (Peng!, Mars and Margarine... all solidly great/great-ish in their own right, but a step below) so this is the conundrum. I will endeavour to find out and shall file my findings in due course.

Haha, yeah, we do sometimes agree 100%. It's a good feeling.
Margerine is my fave out of those other three, it maybe beats Emperor too for fifth place.
The Dots-Cobra-Dust stretch is on a whole different level of course.
