The vocals have been pretty consistently good on every O'bro release, so not sure what you are talking about

Maybe "improved" is the wrong word. They have never been bad. But there was a tone or inflection in them that I didn't love that seems less present in this release.

His vocals sound like an already pretentious and snobby British person actively trying to sound even more pretentious. But on this they’re very nice he’s been getting a little smoother each time agreed

Knocking pretentiousness with the Maynard avatar? Bold.

I’m not knocking the band, in fact I rate past albums quite highly but his voice still does throw me off and yes considering he’s not British it’s even stranger why he sounds like that.

Seen you nominate this for aotm. Is it better than Endless Light? Got that one at a 3.

this wouldn't have been my nomination for most months (obvious reasons excepted lol), but would defs rate it over Endless Light; that one sits at a fairly tepid 3.5 for me. this isn't leagues ahead in quality, but it's a damn sight more interesting

Okay, awesome. Will give it a whirl later today :D

I've only heard this, Garden Window and Endless Light but this is probably my favourite. Though I should go back to Garden Window and see if I'm less bothered by the vocals. If so, that might end up the winner.

This is going to be one of those slippery albums that I really don't think about but am blown away by in the moment every time. Gorgeous, wish there was more to grab ahold of.

Also, Garden Window >>> anything else they've done.

Heh, almost all of this is such a tease
and yeah, they'll never top Garden Window (but that's not such a bad thing)

It’s too different from Endless Light to be a good comparison. I did vote it as aotm though and if I had to pick I’d say it’s slightly weaker than that album.

This album doesn't do it for me -- in fact I've tried to do a listen-through a couple times and had to take a break. I find the overall sluggish pacing and overbearing production pretty tiresome. There's definitely some good work on here but it tends to be mired in monotonous and repetitive song structures and tempos. Both Garden Window and Disillusion are masterpieces in my opinion (and Endless Light is damn good) but this falls short and feels a bit forced and, somehow, half-baked.

I was so excited for this album and I think I've listened to it only twice since release. It's got some good tunes but it's really not on the same level as their last three. Way too much lull

Listened a couple of times. Haven’t been back since. I like Endless Light much more.

God damnit I think the ending to What We've Lost might be my favourite musical moment of 2020 so far. Ughhhhhh it's so fucking sick.
