The outro of that song is transcendent and an incredible vocal performance. So

Eternal Summer kinda sounds like Bad Decisions by Two Door Cinema Club, funny it comes after the same titled song on this album. Got two songs left and I'm feeling a 4 on this album, it's very solid. This is the first time I've listened to a Strokes album front to back.
EDIT: Solid 4, Pitchfork sucks.

^^^ I think thats why I have a problem with it lol. I noticed that similarity on my own yesterday. I just cant connect the contrast between TDCC sounding verses + Clash vibe chorus

I feel like at least the album is consistent some of the other recent albums were all over the place and not in a good way, either.
Eternal Summer still the best song imo, best riffs and vocals from Julian, the band have been doing this live streams on their channel which are pretty entertaining. Basically just them sitting around being goofballs. The dummer Fabrizio is pretty hilarious
On their reddit AMA they said that song Eternal Summer took the longest to get down.

can think of very few bands that keep getting away and capitalize with rehashing the same sound and ideas over and over, these guys do stand out among them so they must be doing something right that I just cannot possibly grasp

look i'm not gonna sit here and pretend that the opening riff of Ode to the Mets isn't the same riff they've used 20 times (and like 3 times on the album). but the outro man...

Great album - been having a lot of fun with it all weekend.

Sounds like they listened to a lot of M83 and Modern English while making this record, which is a strange couple of artists to take influence from but it's got a chill vibe to it. But I don't really listen to The Strokes for chill vibes, I want regurgitated Lou Reed licks with post-punk angst, not this floaty shit mate.
Nah it's good, just a little underwhelming.

This is all of the worst strokes tendencies embraced, spread thin, and stapled to the wall with that gd falsetto
which is by far the best it has ever been and is fairly incredible tbh

Hmmm kinda hard to believe this is good but I'll check it out
