dude Cubensis is literally the worst song they've ever recorded, it's shockingly awful
check Prehistoricisms and Valley of Smoke they are quality

Cubensis is alright, except vocals which sound a bit off. I'd say the worst offenders vocally are Speaking of Orbs and Tripolar. The rest of the performances are fine, specially the ending track.

vox just sound like they're bored as hell

Clean vocals are awful across the board. I dunno wtf happened but wow.
Problems with cubensis dont start or stop with the clean vocals, song is a mess. It's like a failed experiment at trying to be an entirely different band that somehow ended up on an album that is mostly a big throwback to prehist

they've kinda always sound bored (or high af) when doing cleans, but on tripolar sacha sounds like an emo vocalist trying to sound grunge, which is odd because they've been able to pull that vocal style in the past.

"t's like a failed experiment at trying to be an entirely different band that somehow ended up on an album that is mostly a big throwback to prehist"
yeah i see that. overall it's very inconsistent. i wish for more songs like the cull, check your misfortune and the closer which sound more like earlier intronaut

Vox are definitely different on Cubensis, but they've grown on me already. And that weird effect on the main bass riff is actually pretty sweet. The album is overall solid but I think some of the songwriting could be better for sure.

I liked the weirdness of Cubensis, idk. Digging deeper into this though I find more enjoyment in the latter half. Pangloss is dope.

The vox have gotten worse but they don't ruin the album. The first third of Cubensis is like a wonky groove metal song, sort of reminds me of Blasphemy by Kayo Dot. I don't love it, but the whole 2:38-5:54 section is really cool. It's at least a better song than Speaking of Orbs, which is like Intronaut meets AX7. Don't know what they were thinking there. The Cull and Check Your Misfortune are fantastic, reminds me of Prehis and Valley of Smoke.

These guys have always been a band that I feel like I should love but just don't. This is okay but not changing my mind so far.
Yeah, vocals are tolerable but kinda taking away from it a bit. But also nothing else is really wowing me yet either.
I do *want* to like these guys so what is these guys' best album?

Either Prehistoricisms or Valley of Smoke would be the best starting place, the latter is their best imo

This is so convoluted though...
|

Prehistoricisms is unbeatable for me yah
upon cursory listen this is good, digging Pangloss

Flat is the better convoluted

Idk Wolfe, jammed it this morning and felt really overcomplicated at times, track length not helping either.
