Still no rate Sowing?

Struggling to make up my mind. It's better than I actually enjoy it and see myself replaying it. The sort of album I'd say, "yeah that's a 4" but then possibly not give it any more spins simply because the style doesn't appeal to me. I will probably rate it eventually but I overthink everything clearly.

sowing digging a metalcore album, what a time to be alive

Honestly this has continued to grow off me with each successive listen. The cleans are pretty generic and sound like any other metalcore vocalist; the screams are good but not very distinguishable, which was always a strength in my eyes when it came to Underoath (which I'm seeing these guys compared to a lot). Not a whole lot going on structurally either, just a lot of fast-paced basic riffs. A handful of very good songs but the album doesn't come together like I really wanted it to. Decent, not great.

^Polaris summed up in a nutshell. A decent at best band that'll always have 3 or 4 really fuckin good songs on an album full of unmemorable generic tracks.

Really wish they had kept the proggy elements from the EPs and not gone straightforward metalcore, but I still dig this

The best thing this has going for it in my opinion is the passion. Some of this guy's verses are off the charts (love Pray for Rain for example), which is what drew me to this in the first place because normally I could care less about metalcore.

Kind of a low 3.5. It's solid but very unmemorable- like most metal nowadays.

"Some of this guy's verses are off the charts"
As much as I love the riffing and instrumentals in general, Jamie's vocal flow and delivery are probably the number one thing that elevate this band to the level that I personally put them on.

I agree. Without Jamie they wouldn't be nearly as good as they are imo. He really is the highlight of the band.

I really don't like how poppy this disc sounds. to me it feels like a memphis may fire rehash
I listened to it only a couple times though back to back, the singles ripped and mortal coil was a junz jam, so not really sure if I should give this more time or not
