Well, there's only so much a human can do depending on the strength of environmental and genetic conditioning. The fact that she's on the verge of transcendence at all gives some pause. There are plenty moments in this album that I can get lost in. I get a feeling of being suspending in space somewhere that I don't get from many artist. And the fact that she revisits standard patterns from time to time doesn't take that away. Subjective or not...

I am rejamming it today and fuck me, transcending or not, I LOVE her voice.

I think her and James Blake would make an awesome collab album.

Im not sure how we segued from the sonic limitations of single person acoustic acts to environmental and genetic conditioning but yes it is admirable how ethereal her songs can be with such a limited palette

How would that not be subjective lmao

Oh please no, I hate the guy lol
I would even prefer Olafur Arnalds for that matter. Hell, even Jonsi from Sigur Ros.
Edit: Pots ninja'd my comment, I was referring to that Blake collab.

If you all agreed we could pretend it was objective. Isn't that how this works? lol

Damn, you hate James? How can you not like Assume Form?

I don't know man, belive me I tried. I just don't like his stuff.
I think it also falls back to him being colaterally responsible for Bon Iver's corruption lol

I thought you were originally talking about a limitation in her vision. My mistake

I know nothing of this, and maybe that's for the best. I think Assume Form is gold.

I Need A Forest Fire >>>>>> any bon iver sonv

Strict matter of taste I think, you can't even compare the first 2 Bon Iver albums to James Blake's music because they are completely different worlds, but between 22, a million onwards and Blake's, well, I leave that to you. I hate both.

I thought 22, a million was great. Lol, we just have different perspectives, D.

I'd take any James blake album over any bon iver album tbqh

That, I know, Potsy.

This seems like the kind of thing I'd love - does it lean more heavily on the folk songwriter side or the classical side?
|

Classical, Sow, jam it, you'll dig it.

It's a tough competition. But in terms of an imaginary collab with Obel. Blake all day.
Edit: In response to the comparison of Bon Iver and James Blake

Interesting...classical is very hit or miss for me, but I like what I've heard so I'll toss it on the "to eventually spin before the end of Q1" list.

Disagree. The baroque-folk runs so strongly. This will probably be in my top 10 by the end of the year. Early ballsy call.
