If you're looking for great modern post punk recs, I'd definitely say listen to Public Strain by Women and Viet Cong by Preoccupations. New Brigade, You're Nothing, and Plowing Into the Field of Love by Iceage also, though those first two have a decent amount of old school hardcore punk blended in as well.

😆 I’m definitely not an expert in this field but I’d guess this is jokes, yes?
|

lol yes, though fwiw Turn on the Bright Lights does hold up pretty well and 2-3 Public Strain songs are good enough that the occasional "was this rly a classic?" spin isn't a complete waste

Turn On the Bright Lights is definitely the main Interpol record I keep returning to. PDA and Obstacle 1 are just immaculate songs.

while it's not a new album, the boys are finally putting out a remaster of their underrated 2016 sophomore LP Swarm done by Drew Vandenberg who mixed/produced Stray. out August 4th.

So now we’ve established that this is like the 3rd/4th best Nick Cave album, what’s next?
…do I check their other material at last? Probably should.

Very strong record from a great band, and a nice review! Bambara may be underrated, but I think they get plenty of attention from people loving this kind of blues-fuelled post-punk, it is just not for everyone. Someone wrote that their music sounds as if Nick Cave would still make good music, and I can't disagree with that.
What comes to mind is a really criminally underrated English band from the late 90s, Dream City Film Club, releasing two excellent LPs in this genre (s/t from 1997, In the Cold Light of Morning from 1999). Check these out:

But they are not even listed on sputnik. How's that???

I'm really torn over a 3.5 or a 4 rating for it - interesting it was produced by a member of Bark Psychosis, they've gone for something a bit different with it
