I’m not a conflict driven person at all, but man…the energy people often wanna create around the potential controversy of DsO’s existence/practice is surprisingly insensitive and unthoughtful. I’m not an Aspa sympathizer. There are conversations that could be had where people could gain potentially useful perspectives and new energies.
Not gonna attempt to tell any of you “what to do instead”, but asking people to not be reactionary, as a starting point, seems like a large ask for some reason…

Also what Million said tho - they could easily get someone else for purely musical reasons…but they have expressed why they choose to work with him (in regards to his ideals) in interviews.

I mean my final thought here is that the band and their ideas are amazing in many respects, but that people throwing money at them when they refuse to properly acknowledge this controversy is willfully ignorant.

This and Synarchy have equal number of votes though I find this a weaker album overall, which I hate to say.
Clearly the band would have been better served to remain in anonymity, but maybe they collectively gain something from the scrutiny. It's a rather optimistic viewpoint that maybe Mikko would correct his course, but given the subject matter of the music I would not bet on it.

It's rich how all of you are acting like you know the guy closely after just reading a couple of internet articles, wikis, forums etc etc.
It's the internet, like don't take it for full face value.
Mikko isn't the whole band and to not buy a record based off of political views is really dumb. Obviously they are into a whole bunch of complicated ideas (of which race relations and philosophy are a part of) and when you discuss these ideas sometimes you aren't so much as stating ur absolute thesis on the subject but rather opening up new pathways of thinking that get skirted by.
Kind of why artists use pseudonyms to preserve anonymity because most people are frothing at the mouth to ruin another persons life based off their own perception of the other person through a fucking 2dimensional screen.
