I like the fact Gibbs doesnt try to be something he's not, dude is a gangsta rapper.. nothing more nothing less.. I think that's one of the reasons Madlib loves working with him.

disagree hard bout Gibbs. solid performer, solid bars, solid ethic, is consistent and real about his shit... those alone won me over.

yeah I know people like him I just don't get it. I think he clashes with madlib too. I think madlib is prob the best producer in hip-hop and has an introspective intellectual style and gibbs is strictly cocaine

"has an introspective intellectual style"

dude put out jazz, electro, and rock 'beats' to not be put in a box. the dude rapped about weeeeed with Lootpack, about sex along with Dilla and as Quasimoto about all kinds of shit. he's a damn genius that's damn right in the sense that he'll embrace all what hip hop is about - the cocaine, the gangster, the jazz, the political, the spiritual, the rock and roll. he's done it all and can fit all.

as for gibbs, yea obv he's not in that echelon as an artist but he doesn't pretend to be. he def isn't just about 'cocaine' lol. I have just as much fun listening to him as I have Madvillainy these days.

madvillainy is definitely on another level I think. I know gibbs doesn't pretend to be anything he's not I'm just not that interested in what he delivers. agreed on madlib, but that versatility could be better utilized than it is on projects like this. this still is not a bad album though

He sounds like he's on the verge of getting busted by DEA on the new one.
