Pre-reunion Death Angel is really something else compared to what came after.

"Some of the little girl-esque screams on here are just awful"

They kinda... thrash hard somehow? Anyway that acute thing about 2:30 into Final Death never fails to give me questions.

"course mate, one of the greatest jazz guitarists of all time"

Hell yeah, if you like the Still Life kind of stuff I think you'd dig the new one.

Re-visiting this years later and bumping it a lot.

My previous rating was dog shit.

....Thrashers/Kill As One/The Ulta-Violence/Mistress Of Pain are my fav.

I actually love the vocals here. Album thrashes hard. Anything else in their discog aside from Act III worth the time?

Depends on how much you like 'new' thrash a la Damnation Testament

I thought The Dream Calls For Blood was pretty good as far as modern thrash from old bands goes. Rest of their post-Act III stuff doesn't do much for me.

That's my fav too from the modern era. Killing Season also has a few gems like Resurrection Machine and Carnival Justice that still showed hints of quirkiness.

Also don't sleep on Frolic, as maligned as it is I think it's easily top 3 with the two that surround it.

Saw these guys tonight. They're fucking fantastic. I don't give a fuck what anyone says - Mark's vocals are incredible.
