I think I'm the only person here who really isn't wowed by Scorpion Hill in any way. Perfectly fine song but I really don't buy anything this band has ever done as deep or affecting.

Preach. I've always been able to identify my favorite PUP songs before the second verse and this hasn't changed a bit across 3 albums.
IMO people finding something profound with this band's music are projecting more than extracting what's actually there. There is something to be said about being able to be different things to different people though.

ok I somewhat agree but I think that most ppl are forgetting that a lot of people's "projections" about the song's meaning are coming directly from an interview with the lyricist, which is one of the easiest ways for an artist to clearly define the inspiration on the record for their own song. just sayin...
