...yeah everyone fucking hates them lol, there's no argument that they're overrated. even great albums like White still get ripped apart

Like was the blue album some sort of first? Like anytime I wanna critique something for a change and I see that album pop up on the first page, people act like it’s untouchable. It’s a fun, catchy listen and not bad by any means but for me that kinda music being fun and catchy isn’t enough for me to love it

Every time I listen to the blue album its like visiting an old friend. Never gets old. A timeless classic. The black album on the other hand...

They got similar songwriting quality, but Pinkerton is sadder and rawer, so it wins.

Wasn't Pinkerton seen as a massive disappointment/flop when it was released?

yup, took half a decade for critical opinion to come around on that one, when it became obvious how influential it had already been

mongi, I'm not seeing the correlation between "I like Blue less than most other people" and "Weezer's whole discography is overrated". I'm sorry, but if there's some logic to your argument there I'm missing it

This album is pretty good, not getting the negative reception really.

Quite a big improvement over PD...

I edited my comment before you saw it I guess, plus the page break. I was merely talking about the blue album in particular.

I still think I prefer Pacific Daydream to this.

I dig both albums - they both have Weezer DNA but are certainly the pop obsessed odd children of their discography. Both albums are full of just catchy jams, and I'm at a simplistic point in my music digestion, so I'm having a great time.
