So in response to earlier comments from staff, this AFI review was the first review posted and the person only has 9 reviews. I'm not understanding where this "merit" comes from unless they know the staff or it reflects what the staff/editors want to put out there. Additionally your staff review was over a week AFTER the album release for the Pumpkins album.

I'm beginning to think there is little in the way of editorial process or intent here, except for what the team wants to put out there. Sure they'll promote a review or writer if it fits within the context of what they want to portray, but the moment someone has an open mind about an album and writes a review for something as it is instead of what it is idealized/expected/wanted to be, they seem to shut down the user with a staff review at a later time.

This all has a little air of problematic to me, just from an observational standpoint. I will readily admit that I don't play well with favoritism or clique mentality.

Thank you all for the kind words, it really warms the heart. I'm not specifically insulting this review or the reviewer, that isn't my intent at all. I respect anyone who takes the time and energy required to write a thoughtful review. I'm not salty either, I'm just asking for transparency and not a half-response from staff for how they approach these things.

If they have an agenda, be up front about it. Be open and direct with how these determinations are made for EVERYONE's sake. Don't just pick and choose what you want to promote based upon what suits your editorial intent. That way people don't waste their time writing for a site that doesn't care what their user base may have to say.

thats kinda how the staff operates. They run the site and decide what to feature, depending person to person they may want to promote stuff that aligns with their feelings, but well written opposing viewpoints could also be shared. Just depends on how are boys in the staff are feelin' that day.
