I dunno if im missing something in listening to this, because I love Machina but this is pretty sub-par for pumpkins. I was stoked for the near-full reunion; clearly was not something worth getting my hopes up for. Just returned to Oceania. Best new pumpkins release.

Rick Rubin overpolished it into another Rick Rubin pop album instead of letting Bill, James & Jimmy just sound like Bill, James & Jimmy

At least that's what I like to think happened here. & yeah, Machina rules

I miss the days Machina was considered an awful Pumpkins album

I don't know of those days; Machina was always good. Different but a welcomed departure. I miss that low end reverb heavy sound to be honest.

Machina, both 1 and 2, have always been fantastic albums. Anyone who disagrees is a fool. That's just the way it is. No ifs, ands, buts, or Corgans about it

Was Machina 2 ever released to the public? I've never heard it.

'Machina' was never 'a welcomed departure' back in 2000 - it was roundly panned

I think Machina's pretty great in parts tbh - some absolute stinkers though like Ghost and the Glass Children

'Adore' wasn't exactly loved, more misunderstood, and so 'Machina' was marketed as a 'return to rock'...but it confirmed to most people the Pumpkins were now second tier. They were right.

Tbh I still come back to Solara, that's a solid jam, was awesome live too

That and Ghosts are the only worthwhile things here

I wanted to like this, I do to an extent but it just sounds bland. Overall it works though. I believe i'm the only fan that likes Alienation lol. SAYSD and Solara are other favorites off here.

Album is pretty good. Doesn’t deserve an average that low.

I should probably listen to this seeing as I’m a big fan of the Pumpkins going back 20 years and I have it on CD...I guess nervous to because I’ve heard it’s really bad. Silvery Sometimes was decent but Solaris is a fucking bore.

As far as mixing goes, this is much nicer than monuments or Oceania. Those albums have cool songs but the mixing is balls compared to this

Monuments is definitely their worst imo (Tiberius is fantastic though). So slight and short, more a longer EP than an album. I’m afraid this album will unseat it. Many say Zeitgeist is their worst but that album has some good stuff (about a 3).

Um no, Monuments has tons of gems on it. I really like Zeitgeist too

I could never get into Monuments personally. What’s your least fav SP album — this?
