it's futile to compare 2 very different sountracks for 2 very different films, but i can't help but feel the goblin OST hasn't exactly aged all that amazingly.

It's... unique, I'll give it that. Definitely prefer the remake movie and this soundtrack personally.

certainly not when attached to the film at least. the mixing for the OG soundtrack on the original movie was such a distracting, confusing cluster-fuck.

Fuckkkkkkkk these opinions

Goblin soundtrack is classic as hell and adds so much to that film.

it can be classic as hell and add a lot to the film while still being mixed terribly due to limitations in technology due to being the 70s thus not translating well through a contemporary lens

you don't have to isolate good things from the perspective of time for them to maintain value

Yeah like that movie wouldnt be the same without the soundtrack, it's perfect in its own right, but still it's so spastic and muddled in the mix that it's hard to distinguish sounds from the film from the soundtrack sometimes which makes for some perplexing moments of direction

title track is so black metal lol the hushes and the mandoline riff and all that

and yea, in the movie it just sounds like crap. Isolated from the movie it's a decent listen.

Saw the movie. Not sure what to make of it but I was in a trance during the entire runtime. That ritual scene was incredible. Mother Markos is one haunting sight holy fuck.

Movie and soundtrack really miss the mark of the original. Deliberately, I think, which is admirable enough for a remake, I guess, but I would have preferred it to be a new IP. I'd definitely be more receptive to a new IP over an unneeded remake to my favourite horror film.

Still need to see this newer version, heard it’s very different to the original which I’m all for.

Original is basically a perfect movie.
