@Xeno - That subplot really bothered me for a few reasons, mostly what you mentioned about them just forgetting about the boyfriend so it felt like that was just not a necessary plotline that went nowhere
But what I'm really talking about is Loomis 2. How that played out was one of the worst things I've seen in theaters in a very long time. But as soon as it was over with, they brought it back and it was fucking awesome again. I really love it outside of those two things and some misplaced humor during my kill scenes.

Nice, all I want is a fun time and for the movie not to take jteelf seriously tbh.
Original is really fun but I never found it remotely scary.

Weirdly enough, the original movie didn't scare me when I was younger but now I think it's one of the scariest movies out there.

Kinda, I mean he got shot like 6 times, stabbed a bunch, etc and then kept coming back and then that famous disappearing at the end
He wasn't exactly Superman because he was temporarily stopped but I wouldn't exactly call him a mortal man in the first film
The sequels WAYYYYYY overdid it though

Yeah I can’t wait to see this again with my other friends

That "headcrusher" kill was nasty in the best way. Best kill of the franchise.

nah that would be bob from the original
|

Basically Mikey was like "Wanna study somethin'? Study the bottom of my foot bitch!"
BAAAAAAM! So brutal and awesome. The theater cringed and cheered at that scene.

just got back from it and it was soo good

Were they? I never even noticed lol I intend to watch it again next week so I'll keep my eyes peeled

movie's pretty good, that head stomp kill was brutal and the soundtrack rules
my main qualm was the "Loomis 2" subplot and how awful it was
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.5
Yeah there were a few things in the film that felt pointless and left for the wayside
|
| |
also, how the heck did he drag Michael into the cop car so effortlessly with one of his arms in a sling and still recovering from being shot?
must have hulked up when he put on the mask

"my main qualm was the "Loomis 2" subplot and how awful it was"
also the podcast people are completely pointless. You might as well have started the movie from loomis 2.0's point of view and developed him more instead, cuz like they go to jamie lee curtis but she straight up already knows he's getting out and plans on going to kill him there anyway
Also the other crazy dudes on the loose angle could have been cool, but they just throw it away immediately, like someone offhand mentions that they managed to capture all the guys with no incident lol like why even have them escape too

i laughed out loud at the loomis 2 “reveal”. holy fuck was that dumb. that’s really my only complaint. that and the directing isn’t nearly as effective as the original. but then again John Carpenter was untouchable in his prime
|
| |
^yeah that reveal was garbage
also, this restored historic theater in my city is showing the original next week, so stoked for that
|
| |
They referenced "season of the witch" in this?
lmfao

Haven't seen the movie yet, but as far as the soundtrack goes holy shitsacks Carpenter knocked this one out of the park. And like the main theme most of it is deceptively simple yet oozes from dread. The Shape Returns and The Shape Hunts Allyson are balls to to wall fantastic.
