insta-5s are countered by troll 1s...it's always been that way
I'm still trying to get into this personally

The band is way too underground to warrant either insta-5s or troll 1s. At the moment it has zero 1s. That should tell you something.

Take a deep breath Sitar. I didn't say it was bad, just didn't say it needed this massive hype train.

I'm calm homes. Just pointing out the logical fallacies. The album is pretty much flawless.

This has AOTY potential for me. Totally unexpected...but it just gets better with each listen.
Ghosts is insanely catchy. So simple, but totally gorgeous.
The sparing use of the big riffs really works. A lot of dynamic shifts here.

I'd say this has been one really great year for music.
As per my fav AOTY, I'm between
Rivers of Nihil (I generally don't like death, but this one is death for people who don't like death)
the incredibly underrated Delta Sleep record (which I'd recommend to anybody that enjoys VOLA, although per se it's a different genre)
VOLA (because yes)
Night Verses (because their drummer is probably one of my favourite in the game right now)
APC (which I'm probably the only person on sputnik that has liked it immensely)
Childish Japes (this probably less than the rest, but still really great modern rock)
then a lot of other really great stuff (Rolo Tomassi, the new Ben Howard record, Weedpecker, Ancestors, Foxing, Palm Reader etc.etc.etc...)

There’s no Deftones here my friend

More Deftones than Depeche Mode but not really noticable either. Just the night-time atmosphere of the clean guitar parts.
And Meshuggah only if all things djent are automatically like Meshuggah, which I wouldn't agree with honestly since they have a distinct air to their music that's completely missing here.

Well I knew this would be weird (with that I don't mean bad at all). On track 5 now and I got all the references (that yap, can be misleading, but they're there). There's also a lot of Ulver's last release vibe in some post aspects as to the general Depeche Mode inspiration. The djent is no issue for me when is cool like this. Easy listen and easy 3.5 for now but I think it will grow.

If this was more Depeche Mode I’d increase my rating tbh

Surprised no one has thrown out any Dredg comparisons, because I'm hearing a lot of that on the more melodic parts.

Lead singer sounds like Anberlin's lead singer. I dig it.
