Not really, I can definitely hear the post-metal influences but they're a death metal band first & foremost, just not your typical kind, Ulcerate are way more cacophonous than any of those bands & although they slow it down fleetingly, it's usually a relentless assault on the ears.

This record is actually really nice, it's a shame the production kinda feels lifeless. I guess they wanted to go for a more ' rough ' mix, but this production just makes it sound a little less energetic. Record is still great though, I really like how they blend catchiness with interesting songs

Damn the clean vocalist is insanely good, I'm guessing someone else does the harshes? Not sure if I should be crediting him with crazy versatility as well (although the harsh vox aren't as strong anyway).

Wow, that is impressive. The cleans on prog-metal albums are one of the hardest things to get right for me, they usually end up annoying me in some way, but I can't fault this guy.
