I take it that your TooManyFriends moniker is ironic then.

Is it unfair to compare them? Maybe. But on a surface level saying that its the best instrumental I've heard since The Shape of Colour doesn't seem too offensive.

That's actually kind of the downside of this album tbh. At points it sounds like they'd written songs with a singer in mind but then forgot to track the vocals. It's not bad, but it comes of like an instrumental version of Karnivool at times because of the missing melodic aspect.

These songs don't need vocals, and it doesn't sound like they were written with them in mind at all

Eh, agree to disagree. The musicianship is obviously fantastic and it's a pleasant enough listen, but it's not grabbing me the way I guess it's grabbing all y'all.

The idea of Karnivool without vocals doesn't sit well with me

"but it comes of like an instrumental version of Karnivool at times"
I've only listened to one song so far but I hear this.
That's not a negative tho considering Karnivool is one of the greatest bands of this generation.

"Night Verses seems to play and write as an ensemble as opposed to Intervals which is obviously mostly a vehicle for Aaron Marshall's guitar heroics."
Amen to this, really good way of putting it
