Rabid - yeah, this is my second favourite after ‘Powers That B’. Opener, Black Paint and the closer are all good - nothing is awful here...but I’m still saying this band only give me one classic tune per album. Frustrating I guess, I’ll just make a DG mixtape

They’re honestly better when they put a bit of melody in, they don’t have to put in much but when they do (Dilemma, On GP) they’re onto something.
The pure punk ATR style stuff is ok but gets grating
I actually find them MORE subversive when they incorporate psychedelia/rock influences I dunno

I have this strange compulsion to find the worthwhile tracks this band has put out, it can't all be bad...and you know, I think I'm finding the stuff I enjoy from them (usually one track per release, sometimes two)
Feel like I'm panning for gold...only it's more like dredging a sewer while an angry hobo screams in my ear to get out of his house

So far the only Death Grips tunes I really like are:

7. Whatever I Want [4.5/5]
8. Say Hey Kid [4/5]
9. Death Grips is Online [4/5]
10. Voila [3.5/5]
There's a few more I think are alright, esp on Powers and the new one. The rest I haven't detected the interesting parts I did in the 10 tunes above. I guess it plays a bit like 'An Alternative History - Death Grips the Rock Band'. Personal taste, so don't crucify me...

They do peddle a very sludgy brand of IDM (not a massive fan of sludgy IDM) along with that 'digital firebrand' Atari Teenage Riot thing which is not my favourite thing ever either - and as much as I'm a huge fan of singers that can't sing...this style over a whole album is erm - punishing?
