yeh i agree focus is much better sounding
tbh i think this album just isn't very fun. the tempos feel a bit too slow and aren't that dynamic, the riffs are boring and underdeveloped, the drums suck, the clean stuff is cool but can't carry the rest. their first album i feel was a lot better cus it had a decent riff factor and some cool atmospheric moments. here i think too much time was spent spicing up the clean sections and not enough on the bulk of the songs.

i totally disagree lmao. the junz suck and all the heavy sections highlight the terrible pumpy mastering. most of the actual riffs are okay but with progressive/technical death metal that's really not enough to make it far past mediocre. altogether i think it feels too sluggish.
in terms of albums which i think have a similar kind of end goal and atmopheric focus I think Virvum - Illuminance is a lot better, faster, tighter, more entertaining. Last year's Decrepit Birth as well. Fallujah - Nomadic is also a pretty apt comparison and that album is better too
