Opener literally sounds like a b side off Slipknot’s latest record.

Machine Head has meant a lot to me as well growing up. I already told you about discovering The More Things Change as a kid and it basically changing my entire metal landscape. I have a complicated relationship with this band, while I find them very viscerally satisfying, I'm a bit love-hate with their inherent corniness. It's kind of like enjoying old Korn unironically while Davis is talking about kids shoving him on the playground and calling him a fagot. With that said, this album is not worse than Burning Red, no fucking way. I listened to that recently and man it's even blander than this. I have a confession to make, this album is growing on me... It's kind of juvenile to a fascinating degree, it's like The Room of metal albums.

I like how in all the reviews so far they infer that he's talking about himself in that song... They've clearly not been paying attention to Robb Flynn throughout his career. If you haven't noticed, he's kind of a champion for equality. Doesn't change that the song is terrible in every way, just funny how people can't tell when a song is intentionally taking the piss.

yeah for sure. People think he's just posturing with all the repressed gansta shit on this album, but I think he really had a fucked up life as a youth in the Bay Area and this is his way of venting about it. I think he's been itching to take the band in this direction for a while, dude probably listens to a lot of rap anyway, he seems ghetto as fuck. Which makes it all the more fascinating that for a while him and his band were modern thrash gods.

yeaaaah Kaleidoscope is soooo bad, but the worst part is even that song is starting to grow on me! I can't believe I'm saying this but it's really, really catchy after a while if you just try to ignore the words. lmao
