I'm glad people like the new album. Upset and disappointed with how it turned out, but the broader reaction so far seems to be a lot better than with that of his previous releases -- which is perhaps the best possible note to end on.

Why don't you like the new one?

I don't like the production. Too much has changed, both in terms of the instrumentals and the way that his vocals are mixed -- to the point where I think it bears too little resemblance to part one. Or the leaks. Or what I've come to expect (and enjoy) from Peep. It sounds overproduced and over-embellished. The remix of Life, and the inclusion of the XXX and Makonnen tracks, are incredibly unnecessary. And I find that sad.

But I understand that part of the album's intent was to crystalise some sort of legacy, so the changes make sense. Weird expectations and misguided cynicism are probably the killers for me here.

Yeah it definitely doesn't resemble this one in production, but I did like it. Oh well. I also don't mind the repeat track, but wouldn't have minded if they dropped the XXX one. I never heard leaks so I can't compare which sounds like a good thing

Yeah, I think these versions of Broken Smile and 16 Lines are quite good. Fingers is a great song, too, don't think I'd heard it before. The vocals are my biggest issue, though, they sound a lot less layered and a lot more buried.

Just started listening to the new one. The production is very different, but I like the cleaner sound. That guitar on Sex With My Ex is catchy as fuck.

This guy had a surprisingly interesting life story. His parents were Harvard grads and he had Swedish Citizenship and was basically an American Swede. I had no idea about this. I'm not really a fan of the music though but at least he was a bit more interesting than a lot of his contemporaries.
