@Feather I absolutely can't stand Shane's vocals in the chorus of The Afterglow. They're so whiny - not to mention it sounding like something I'd hear at a Five Seconds of Summer show. One song doesn't ruin the album though. I use Google Play Music instead of Spotify and I don't think it's a great representation of which songs are being streamed the most. It shows the most popular ones but they almost never change.

I strongly disagree with your thought that "they don't change much" and aren't a great representation of what is being streamed the most. Spotify has some of the most advanced data analytics around.
The Afterglow with only 2.5 million streams is currently ahead of My Heroine and Smile in Your Sleep who both have significantly more (over 10M+ streams) as well as Ghost off the same album that is currently sitting at 3.5M streams. Afterglow is ranked higher because its current velocity (streams/day) and acceleration (whether velocity is increasing or decreasing) is higher.
I understand you don't like the afterglow, but you can't deny that it is currently the hottest silverstein song.. I saw them live the other day and that was their final closing song! Not even like the fake closing and then an encore comes and they play some old hits. Afterglow was there final encore.

I was talking about them not changing on Google Play Music. Smile In Your Sleep is the top song on there though The Afterglow is second. I just think it's incredibly mediocre and generic with whiny vocals in the chorus. I think the melody is annoying.

Sorry I misunderstood :-)
why you dislike it is kind of what makes it "mainstream" popular. super cookie cutter, simple chorus, verse, chorus, verse structure. Its probably on some popular spotify playlist or something getting massive exposure.

The Afterglow is one of their most mainstream songs. No wonder it's most played.

Can we talk about Stand Amid the Roar tho

I don't love this album but Aquamarine might be my favorite Silverstein song.

Thanks Feather. I've been reading reviews on here for as long as I can remember but I figured I'd finally make an account so I can chime in. Now I wish my damn avatar would show in the comments.
Regarding Stand Amid the Roar: easily one of their best songs. The guitar in the chorus makes me want to throw down and the group vocals at the end are super reminiscent of Boys Night Out from back in the day. I haven't liked Silverstein's music following Arrivals and Departures anywhere near as much as what preceded it but Stand Amid the Roar and The Artist are amongst their best tracks.

LightandGlass I'm pretty sure thats how just about everyone ends up joining this site. I'm sorry for you.
Stand Amid the Roar is perfection and honestly wind shifts is a great album, but its almost sad that it starts off on such a high note because it is setting an impossible standard.

Wind Shifts starts out amazing and then is great the rest of the way, easily their best album

I'll never understand the appeal of TIHTWS. Every time the album begins to pick up momentum they kill it with a boring interlude.

It's got a buffalo on the cover, what more do you need?

To be fair, if I were to rate it by the cover alone it would easily be a 5.

Buffalo easily bumps the actual album rating (3.75) up to a 5.

The album is like a 3.8 to me

sounds fair. I'm teetering between 3.5 and 4, but tbh its realistically more on the 3.5 side.
