Not really sold on the vocals. They are okay. Serviceable. They sound like someone and I can't put my finger on it. Everything else is great.

Reminds me of janes addiction a little bit in the vox.

That's who it is!!! That was driving me mad. Thank you, friend.

Honestly, the way the songs are written the vocals are something that doesn't distract too much from the rest of the music and they don't have the same carrying weight as they usually do so I don't mind that.

Damn, I can't stop listening to this album. It's fucking phenomenal. Definitely will be my AOTY, I just can't see anything this year beating it.

Surprised at how much I enjoy this. Probably in my midyear top 5
I think the additional progressive rock influence does wonders for their sound (or maybe their musicianship has just improved, Idk)

'Rock' album of the year so far

This is a phenomenal record and just gets better. Production is organic and let's the band breathe, riffs are intricate and creative but always service the track, and the level of composition on this thing is leagues above anything else in the prog/rock/metal realm at the moment. The vocals have also developed well from Lore and the backend of Blind, when they come crashing in after another brilliant bridge, is one of the moments of the record. On top of all that, they really do have their own sound. A future classic and a complete breath of fresh air.

Gave this a listen and, while it got a bit too wanky in places and the vocalist needs to shut up, I actually enjoyed it. This could be this year's equivalent of Kodama for me (i.e. an almost metal album that I actually like a fair amount).

Still digging this after a few listens but I can't help but think the opener is head and shoulders above the rest.
