Yeah I wouldn't call Radiohead Sputcore because they're universally acclaimed everywhere, the difference is Sputcore bands get much more attention here and on similar sites than in the music community at large. This band is certainly popular outside Sput but you don't really see people swearing by them in the same way.

Imo Suptnik's most overrated baby remains Brand New, Radiohead/Tool might indeed be part of the sputcore yet they are equally acclaimed beyond the website.

The fact that I can't stand Emo might play on my judgment thought.

Only got a to hear about half of these songs this morning, but I enjoyed for the most part. Seems there are a few moments I was not digging, but overall seems fairly solid.

I define Sputcore as anything that gets worshipped by a large portion of Sputnik's userbase tbh, and that includes Radiohead and the like.

So while most of ATDI's albums might not qualify as Sputcore, Relationship of Command most definitely does.

It is the holy grail of their discog and has over double the ratings of ICO, but when it comes to comment-count and total ratings it pales in comparison to other Sputcore bands/albums. ATDI has kind of a niche following... like... Sputcult lol.

It has approximately 1,500 more ratings than The Shape of Punk to Come and only about 200 fewer than Jane Doe, both of which I've always thought of as very Sputcore albums... as for comment count, ROC's current default review wasn't always such; between that review and the ones by Necrotica and Adam Turner-Heffer, I count 3,679 comments in total.

I second Jane Doe. I've hardly seen any praise for Converge albums, specifically that one, anywhere except here.

I meant for discographies overall, but I honestly didn't realize ROC was that close to some of the others.

Quite possibly the greatest post-hxc album of all time. You plebs will never get it. And it makes sense to me. Undignified swine.

5/5

Yeah Converge too...I only saw it praised in very special places such as HxC forums. For most people it's probably noise (and honestly they're not far from right).

If you don't like Converge, then you fail yourself. Just kidding. I couldn't care less.

honestly, I dig this. If I think about it within the confines of being an ATDI album, it's definitely different. But honestly, who cares? Trying to compare back to back albums this far apart is always difficult. It's an Omar + Cedric project and sounds like an Omar + Cedric project and it was a fun listen on my first time through. In fact, it sounds like it fits in between ATDI and TMV pretty well. prolly a 3.7

I mean Converge has a pretty big following in the metal/hardcore/alt community regardless of this site. As evidenced by the Jane Doe shirts at every modern hardcore show you ever go to. Honestly, these "sputcore" albums are probably overrated everywhere.

But yeah, this album doesn't have enough muscle if that makes sense. Production too clean, vocals less biting, instrumentals don't seem very lively even though Omar turns out some good riffs every now and again. Nothing near as iconic as the riffs in Arcarsenal, One Armed Scissor, etc.

The people that gave this a 5 need to chill out.

People have given this a 5? Not in the comment section they haven't, anyway. It might be one of those situations where a few 'fanboys' give super-hyped 5s & then lower their score after it wears off a bit.
