wow, was not expecting a lukewarm/bad reception to this one on here

listened for my first time last night & genuinely enjoyed the majority of it



the self-titled is admittedly one of my favorite albums of all time (it more or less got me into music, and the combination with Hewlett's art just blew my mind as a kid) but yeah I learned reeeal quick not to have any sort of expectations for what this band is "supposed" to sound like after Demon Days came out and I kept trying to draw comparisons to the first record (I don't really ever do that with any other project but the nostalgia level for that first album was & is so high I couldn't help it)



This one seemed more fleshed-out production-wise than PB (& certainly The Fall) at least in the sense that I was never really feeling like "aw damn why'd they do the drums like that" or anything of that nature, makes sense since he had at least 2 co-producers for this one. Sure I could have done with more Damon vocal spots too but, like another user said earlier, they're not that few & far between

This is going to be a grower. After the first listen I was very underwhelmed. But I've listened to it maybe 5 times now and I've already grown to enjoy it more and more.

4th time listening all the way through and not losing any impact, think it's actually just getting better

Do not care about the average, to be clear, just saying that many people will eventually come to give it a slight rating increase which, given enough of them, might get reflected on the overall average.



Still, regretably there are many MANY 'fans' of the band that didn't get their Demun duyz vol. 2 so they inmediately hate this so I dunno.
