Yeah, Piggy Black Cross is breaking new ground for Toby of sorts. He initially wanted PBC kept separated from the KD, and solo works social media pages but when he saw Justin Broadrick's new hip-hop project Zonal (basically it's Techno Animal rebooted under a new name) at Roadburn 2018 and how well received it was with what's predominantly an underground metal crowd, he's been more open to sharing the project within those platforms. It's done wonders for the project, I think PBC's getting a lot more exposure since then.

The press release write up for They Are The Shield name dropped Ulver

Yea Toby's tweeted a couple times over the past year or two how much he admires Ulver. I think at one point he tweeted at them asking to join the band haha. The press release also quotes my review, which made me feel pretty good.

I really wanna hear those other two songs. The four that are on Live at Roulette are amazing.

I also added the Piggy Black Cross page to the site yesterday, for anyone who wants to review it or just throw a rating up there. I hear Boards of Canada, Skinny Puppy, and Plastic House on Base of Sky on it, really cool EP.

It’s interesting to note, Along Cthamaline Stars didn’t make it onto the album. I wonder if it’s a case of it not fitting the vibe Toby was going for, or he wanted to keep the album in the 40-45 minute mark.

The vinyl appears to be a single LP so the album has to be 45 minutes tops. I remember the 2nd set at the Roulette show being almost an hour long and the songs on the Roulette EP were in the 7-10 minute mark, so...

“new stuff blows this out of the water”

I wouldn’t disagree with that at all. They Are The Shield is the much more realized version of what Madonnawhore sought out to be...and I happened to really love it personally. Craven’s Dawn being my favorite track on the album.

Craven's Dawn is also my favorite. I just up'd my rating for this. That atmosphere hits me in the right spot sometimes.
