The fact that Wars of the Roses is one of their weakest/is their weakest is proof that they're such a ridiculously consistent band despite always changing directions

I prefer Wars to Messe, ATGblahblah, Marriage, and Blood Inside tbh. Barely tho, they're all excellent.

Marriage is the only one I haven't heard yet, prob gonna get on that tomorrow. Wars is the only one I don't love tbh.

Really? That's an interesting opinion. I think Messe is top tier Ulver. Marriage is kinda tied with Wars for me honestly.

Marriage is super ambitious and awesome but it's a bit too conceptual and kinda suffers for it. I was very surprised by the sound of it the first time I heard it.

I'm gonna buy this album so hard tomorrow when it's in the record shop officially

I like how Ulver is one of those bands where no one's top 5 will be similar. Just one of those rare bands who have lived 20+ years and have consistently released great material

Marriage is very... interesting for sure. Some parts of it seem misguided, especially the second half of the first disc, but overall it's excellent and pretty underrated.

Messe is fantastic but I wish there were more vocals and a little less extended ambience and strings that kind of float around. Wars and this are more engaging imo, but they're all pretty much the same quality.

This is already up there as one of my favorite Ulver albums after 5 listens but that still means it's basically on par with 5 other albums

My top 5 probably has the Norwegian Opera concert in it, best live DVD ever if you ask me.

I absolutely can't wait to listen to this... I hope it's not too depeche mode-y.
