How does this compare to Veritas Diaboli? It's the only one I've heard so far from these guys, but it pretty much epitomizes what I'm looking for in BM.

This is more intense, but this album really reminds me of that EP. If you like Chaining, then you will most likely like this as well.

On a different note, I think they got a new drummer for this album. The performance here sounds a bit more rudimentary and less precise than their past two

This is better than Shrines but that's just because I think Deathspell always make more standout unique moments whereas Ulcerate go straight for the wall of sound now which gets tiring
