because many people on this planet operate under the idiotic mindset that pop music is inferior to all genres, so when any band with a guitar makes a statement against pop music, they will lap it up thinking its the boldest and wisest shit on the face of the earth. Never mind 90% of Sum 41's discography is some form of pop rock/punk in one way or another.

And you can TELL its pandering shit because:
1. The line about pop music isn't on the album
2. The rest of the song has NOTHiNG to do with pop music, if you removed (DEATH TO POP) in the title, nothing of significance would be lost.
