I still love this album three years later. I regard it highly because its a Crimson influenced (Swano mixed and mastered this too) short story that has fantastic lyrics combined with some of the best melodic death metal riffs I've heard.

rejammed this again last night and still wasn't really digging it as much as their other records. Idk why but it just doesn't feel like this concept fits their style or they just can't pull it off that well for me (compared to edge of sanity) at least.

I mean from the looks of it, it's more or less just going to be another Insomnium album, which I'm totally fine with
at this point these guys are more or less a lone-trick pony band but are just really good at that one trick.

So, what's the point of it if I can just put this or Shadows of the Dying Sun on instead? For me, Insomnium are definitely not the band to whom "the more, the better" principle applies. This was a nice and well-executed step out of their comfort zone. Wish they expanded upon it.
