Haven't heard it yet actually! They said the LP should come soon after so I'm waiting on that. EPs feel like a tease to me.

That's understandable, I'm just too impatient haha

@supremejelly - I think the EP is pretty good. The tracks were instrumentally complex but concise enough to keep my attention, I feel like a lot of instrumental bands end up with bloated song lengths
|

Agreed. They started off as an instrumental band like they are now (I think their name used to be Archives), so they seem to know what they're doing. There's demos from their first EP with the current DGD vocalist on them under the name Archives, pretty interesting

Never heard Archives but im excited to check them out now. As for the EP, it's fantastic. As expected it's extremely technical and crushing, but also has nicely balanced melodic moments. Lots of bands fall into that instrumetal wankfest trap without actually developing their songs, but these guys fucking nailed it. Can't wait to hear more.

That's all the Archives I found, but it has Tilian on vocals. Not sure if there's anything else out there

This album made my summer 2016...kinda forgot about it in 2017 and now I listened to it again. Keeps getting better and better. I don't get why people hate it that much. If this was their debut, people would have gone nuts I think. Also much respect for not going more accessible and doing experimental stuff instead. Does any of you know stuff which has a variety like this gem?

Band going instrumental was a great move for them. Personally, I think the vocals certainly held them back and they feel much more natural with their sound progression now.

gonna tackle their discography this week. They killed it live when I saw them with letlive. forever ago and I liked Copper Wasps. 2 tracks in to this and I'm already convinced that this is going to definitely be a more unique post-hardcore album

A dialogue in Cataplexy - cool track

this album is great but i feel like it would be a lot better with a better mix. way too much bass and the guitars are way too low. pretty sure that was intentional but i don't think it works in its favor.

I absolutely love the tones/atmosphere they got on here.

Does anyone find the songs to crackle at a lot of parts, when listening on headphones? One example would be the climax at 4:00ish on Cataplexy.

Can't hear anything like that. However, I feel that sometimes the bass is a little overpowered like at some points in Panic.

This album is about 2x better than the new one.

gallery of sleep is great but this still super underrated imo. they took a ton of risks and i think they all paid off. wish we could have gotten more with this lineup

I agree, this is my favorite full length of their's. Judging by the average ratings, though, I listen to this band for different reasons than most of sputnik lmao
