i mean i've talked to people who are like "you can't bring up one without bringing up the other in the same sentence" and "it's always a toss-up which one is better" even though kendrick can clearly run circles around j. cole

i mean trust me yeah kendrick is a better artist but the fact that forest hills is a 3.4 with 220 votes and tpab is a 4.4 with fuckin 2012 votes yes sputnik sleeps on j cole a bit too much

Kendrick, J Cole, and Logic get compared a lot because they are considered "the new wave of real hip hop" in popular music. Tbh I've only listened to one Logic and J Cole album and inferring from those, they are decent rappers (Kendrick being just slightly better) but their overall projects just pale in comparison to Kendrick's. I think Logic and J Cole have potential to make a project or two that matches Kendrick's past few imo, but they haven't reached that level.

Album Rating: 4.0
yeah cole has had that potential but his projects are all a bit lukewarm
hes more comparable to drake really in that its more of an rnb style, although he does more of his own beats and compositions than drake honestly so thats commendable

Plus I think Kendrick gets more attention from older audiences because he's a conscious Compton rapper and he's Dr. Dre's most recent prodigy.

yep
hes the king of rap right now and i would say he deserves it but it wasnt without verbal support from dre and co
although i will say that its cool that kdot has always done his own thing and never let someone like dre take the whole thing over
hes kind of like this generations nas if nas had of kept progressing
