This is definitely the most Deftones influence album I've heard from them so far. Their first album is more or less post-hardcore while their other albums are more alt-rock.

if they'd released this album, say, two years after Be Human, I'd be pretty happy with it. i think most of the hype comes from the fact they had such a big hiatus.
but fightstar don't even compare to deftones. deftones are on another level.

true, but the stuff on here definitely has a lot of that Deftones influence. They may not be the same band in terms of their style (at least for the most part concerning Fightstar's previous material) but there is some of connection regarding this album.

I don't think it's any of our places to say one is an objectively better band than the other - Deftones' influence and history is massive in comparison to these guys and I have huge respect for them, it just so happens that this does a lot more for me than a lot of their work.

Sink with the Snakes is a beast of a song. Too bad it's so short.
And for those just now hearing fightstar for the first time: these guys are capable of much better choruses than the ones found here.
